How to force a player to use IE quirks mode or IE 7 Standards mode

I have a player running IE 11, and a website that was designed for older version of IE.

I have created a local group policy (both machine and user settings), and set the quirk mode for a particular website on the player machine.

This is done in:  Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Compatibility View -> Use Policy List of Quirks Mode sites

This then allows the website to work for any user that logs onto this player.

However, when I use the Recorder and connect to the website, I get an message stating that the browser is not supported.  This tells me that when using the recorder, it is somehow circumventing and not allowing the IE changes to occur from the group policy?

The recorder uses some pieces of IE but not all?

Keep in mind, if I use IE on the same machine, connecting to the same web site, I do not receive this popup because the group policies are working, and the website works.

I was looking for documentation on how the local browsers interact with the recorder and player.   Ex.  Is the default browser used?  Can I use another browser?  Are only HTTP messages sent to the web server and the local browser is not used... ,etc.

Any help is appreciated.

Bryan
